Meet the Team: Jennifer Bergner

Meet Jennifer Bergner

Jennifer Bergner is StoryTeller’s expert Video Producer. Joining the team in December 2023, Jennifer brings a wealth of experience from her background in TV News. From reporting to anchoring, her background in news sharpens her in the field and ensures thoroughness in her production efforts. Continue reading to learn more about Jennifer’s career and life beyond the office.

The College Years

Not long into her college career, Jennifer discovered her love for journalism. She spent most of her time at the campus TV station at St. Cloud State University, from which she graduated in 2012.

The campus news allowed her to explore all parts of broadcast journalism, including anchoring, directing, and producing. A standout memory from her college years was her role as News Director during her senior year. The student-run station aired two live broadcasts daily, which was a great introduction to the fast-paced world of journalism.

Early Career

An internship at KBJR-TV became her first official post-grad job, where she lived in Hibbing, MN, for a year as a state’s Iron Range bureau reporter. She covered the local news in Northern Minnesota, from board meetings to local events and mining. After that brief period, she was offered a promotion in Duluth with the same station, where she remained for the following five years. During her 7-year tenure at KBJR, she progressed from a reporter to an anchor, from weekends to mornings to eventually becoming the evening anchor. Her career highlight from her time up North? Interviewing then-Vice President Joe Biden.

Following her departure from KBJR, she transitioned to the Twin Cities, joining KARE 11 as a reporter. Shortly after starting her new position, the Covid-19 pandemic struck. She began working from home, like many others. She learned to conduct interviews over Zoom and do live shots…from her basement. After the pandemic, Jennifer moved to KARE 11’s morning show and set her weekday alarm for 2:30 a.m. Jennifer can’t deny that sleep deprivation was a reason she began contemplating a career change, but beyond that, she was ready to try something new. That’s when she found StoryTeller.

Joining the StoryTeller Team

Now, Jennifer is with us as a full-time video producer, a job that brings out the best of her journalism abilities and leaves her feeling fulfilled. She reflects on this shift, saying she feels a revived passion for work in an exciting and well-balanced way. Instead of waking up at 3 AM to head to the station, she’s enjoying the comforts of working from home while nurturing her love for producing. Surprisingly, she has also developed a new love for project management and other tasks she hadn't previously explored.

With a portfolio boasting nearly 2,000 videos in her career, Jennifer is an expert and the perfect person to craft your videos. She possesses the remarkable ability to instill confidence in individuals on-camera and make them comfortable during shoots. Beyond that, Jennifer has a magical touch when putting together compelling stories. She brings unique expertise to every project she touches and especially enjoys knowing when her work makes a difference for the clients she collaborates with. Jennifer's experience in television news also makes her an expert at working on the fly and applying critical thinking skills when shoots encounter challenges. With Jennifer, your projects will proceed smoothly, yielding results that surpass your goals.

When Jennifer isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three young children. When she has more time in the day, she also enjoys reading a book, finding the perfect items at thrift stores, and sleeping in as much as the aforementioned children will allow her.
