What was old is now new, again! StoryTeller recently announced that StoryTeller Media and Communications is splitting into two entities in an effort to sharpen its focus as a marketing firm and video production company. The company is doing this by creating two separate entities - StoryTeller Video Production Company and StoryTeller Club Marketing.
"We're going back to our roots in a way," said Ed Heil, founder of StoryTeller. "When I first left television news in 2005, I wanted to start a video production company and we opened our doors under the name StoryTeller Productions." It wasn’t long after that StoryTeller also began to offer traditional media relations services to Twin Cities businesses. Over time, the company evolved into an inbound marketing firm that specialized in HubSpot and video production. While it was part of the original business model, it left the company with a bit of an identity crisis.
“Depending on how we worked with your business, you knew us as a video company or a marketing firm, and that was confusing for the market.”
With the recent announcement, StoryTeller Video Production Company is planning to continue to grow as a video firm serving organizations across the country with a heavy concentration of its work in the Twin Cities. The company has long specialized in documentary-style video storytelling for its clients with an emphasis on increasing awareness and building trust. As businesses continue to incorporate video into all aspects of their operations, StoryTeller Video Production Company sees an opportunity to help its clients in many ways.
"When we first started out, we had a heavy focus in the nonprofit segment helping organizations raise money, and to this day we still work quite a bit with nonprofit organizations. They have the best stories to tell," said Heil.
"However, we're seeing a huge need for video in the recruiting and training process. Business leaders recognize how expensive it is to onboard new people and for several years now, our clients have been engaged in talent wars and video is a wonderful way to show job candidates what a business is like on a day-to-day basis".
StoryTeller also launched its new brand StoryTeller Club Marketing in the past week. While the name has slightly changed, the type of work StoryTeller does remains the same. StoryTeller Club Marketing focuses on helping private clubs grow membership and ensure long-term growth through inbound marketing strategies.
"The private club industry has been healthier than it has been in years, since the pandemic," notes StoryTeller Partner and Business Development leader, Kathy Heil "The clubs that are not healthy, are trying to get on their feet and the clubs that have been doing well are investing in their future with both new amenities and new business strategies. So it just feels like now is the right time to make the move."
Well-positioned in both video services and private club marketing, StoryTeller Club Marketing will continue to offer video services as part of its marketing strategy. However, StoryTeller Video Production Company will continue to operate more as marketing generalists.
"It's an exciting time. Making the decision was difficult and yet it has already helped us clear up some messaging around who we are and what we do. So, the future is bright for StoryTeller!"
